SHOW 2008

COMPANION DOG SHOW
The Annual  Companion Dog show was  hosted  by the Club on Sunday 22nd June at the  North Bersted Community Centre, a proved to be one of the most successful ever. The Show was opened by former World and Olympic figure skating Champion Robin Cousins accompanied by his own dog. Robin is Patron of the  Sussex Pet Rescue Charitable Trust, who will benefit from the proceeds from the show.

The pedigree class judged by Anita Deadman  was very popular with  Mollie, Golden Retriever owned by Miss Hallworth from Horsham being awarded the Best in Show Trophy and the best Puppy Trophy went to Blaze a German Shepherd.

The four levels of obedience were very competitive, with the advanced class which tests the the dog and handler in heel work, recalls, stays and the challenging scent retrieval. The class proved to be of a very high standard with top honours eventually going to  Jess a Border Collie owned by Cynthia Roffey from Cranleigh, Surrey

The Starters class was won by Frisbee cross breed owned by Nicole Nagel from Bracklesham Bay, the Triers class by Jim a Working Sheep Dog owned by Rhia Mulrenan from Findon and the Improvers class was won by Havoc Working Sheep Dog owned by Shirley Finch from Bognor Regis.

The
novelty classes  were judged by  Anna Jones and were as usual  very popular with the fun aspect always tempering the competitive edge, which makes for an enjoyable afternoon for both dogs and owners.

LAST YEARS RESULTS  (June 2007)

I would like to thank all Club Members for their enormous help with the Show.    We had loads of stuff donated by you all and what we didn't manage to sell we passed on to Mount Noddy, who have their own show shortly.   Everything else that was left was taken to the Brent Lodge Charity Shop.    Despite the weather we managed to raise approximately £1,500, which was mainly due to sponsorship money collected prior to the Show from yourselves and from local businesses.    Thank you all for giving up your Sunday to come along in the torrential rain to help out - we all got soaked but the Show went on.    Our appreciation also goes to the Judges and Stewards, who were out in the rain for the entire afternoon and who did a splendid job.

Lastly, a huge thank you to all the Committee, without whose support and large amount practical help the Show would not have been possible.

Hilary Sykes
